People and experts are always trying to complicate home business success. I think in many ways this is because the teacher doesn’t always have the clear answers for success. They are often struggling themselves as they don't have a clear idea on what they must do to succeed.
Sure we have seen others have success, even great success so we know it's possible and yet we either go to seminars or listen to conference calls where they are going to explain how to be successful. And yet we go away with perhaps some ideas but beyond that we’re still confused and frustrated, because we’re not having the same success the people teaching us are having, while we’re doing what they’re teaching.
Obviously something is missing. If someone was to give you a recipe for their special dessert and you followed it and yet your dessert tasted nothing like theirs, what would be your natural assumption? That they left some ingredients or steps out of recipe.
You can't hit a target where information is missing so that it doesn't allow you to see it clearly.
In many cases it may not even be intentional. This highly successful person could be what we call a natural. Their skill sets are such they succeed without even realizing what their magic ingredient is. These people don't often make the best golf or basketball or tennis coaches, because they aren’t often as patient with people who don't get it as fast as they did.
But beyond that there are a number of reasons they succeeded and if we understand those reasons and implement those reasons we too will have the success they are experiencing.

So let’s examine many of the reasons why these people have achieved great success in a home business and others greatly struggle. If you understand these reasons you are well on your way to the path of success.
First is what I call the opportunity has come and gone scenario – the best analogy of this I can use is the stock market. Someone could say work with me I made a ton of money investing in Microsoft stock in 1982, let’s invest your money in Microsoft stock today and you’ll get as rich as me.
In the Home Business arena I’m talking about the companies where people made their money years ago and yet still act like it's the same opportunity. I could name a number of excellent companies like this who produce some excellent products, however there's one slight problem. Just like the Microsoft stock these people made their money when the company had double digit a month growth. The real question should be:
Is there income growing at the present time and if it is, is the rate of growth only a small percentage. In this case there may be nothing you'll doing wrong, you simply can’t get blood out of a turnip. You can’t get growth where there is none. And even if you could why would you want to if there was something performing much better.
With almost every successful company in the Direct Selling Home business there is only one real window of opportunity to earn the big money and once it passes it passes forever. This is why I would almost 100% of the time pass on a large home business company that’s been around a while. The larger they are and loner they’ve been around the less opportunity.
Second is the they're successful for who they know crowd. You’ve heard it said it’s who you know that helps you succeed in business. This is at least partially true in the Direct Sales home business arena. These highly successful people contact other very successful people they know and this greatly contributes to their great success. However, keep this in mind these people weren’t necessarily born knowing other successful people. They had to cultivate, build and grow these relationships.
Success is a byproduct. These people are successful because they have the right work ethic and think and do things in ways that lead to success. Read the third scenario for more input into this.
Let’s contrast this to the typically unsuccessful person in a home business they contact their friends and people they are comfortable with, good people, but unskilled and previously unsuccessful business people.
This is like trying to build a good baseball team with untalented 60 year old fat men who couldn’t play baseball when they were 20.
So to be successful like a baseball team you must simply recruit good talent or develop talent from those willing to learn. You must be willing to step away from being comfortable and be willing to talk to people outside your comfort zone.
The Third scenario these highly successful people have is they either a natural or developed skill set that simply allows them to have more success with the same effort as an unskilled person.
So a person who lacks these same skill sets simply isn’t going to greatly succeed until they are willing to learn, practice and use these successful characteristics.
The good news is there aren’t many of them and they’re not that hard to learn.
The first characteristic these successful people possess is enthusiasm, belief and unbridled passion. This alone will take you further in this business than perhaps any other characteristic or skill you can master.
Second, successful leaders immerse themselves in whatever it takes to get this passion. Whether it’s listening to recordings or experiencing feedback about how their product is helping others. They do what they can to get that passion.
Third, successful people are positive thinkers, they certainly aren’t negative. They have a can do attitude. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are raw- raw they just always keep plugging away and if they ever get discouraged, they don’t show it.
Fourth, successful people know what they’re target is, they have outlined it and see it clearly. This is why they can consistently hit their targets.
Fifth, successful people are able to focus their energy and attention on their targets. They also have very few complex decisions. They know each decision will either take them closer to or move them further away from their target. (See this blog post - Click Here!) Knowing this their decisions are pretty easy.
Sixth, successful people know their success will come by who they become and not because of dumb luck. Thus they are geared to constantly improve who they are.
