What do words like “rigorous,” “randomized,” “double-blind,” and “placebo-controlled” really mean?

They mean that this study has been subjected to an extremely high standard of testing and evaluation used by science, worthy of publication in scientific journals.

Think for a minute about all the exotic juice products in the marketplace. Some have been very successful over the last few years despite the fact that they have virtually no real science behind them. The study on GoChi represents a monumental leap in the entire juice category because we believe it raises the credibility of this product to a standard never before seen in the juice industry.

For four years, we have talked about why Himalayan Goji Juice will become a billion-dollar brand. We cited four key areas:
1. The great history of the goji berry dating back thousands of years;
2. The great taste of our product that even children enjoy;
3. The tremendous results our Customers feel almost immediately in a wide range of health areas; and
4. The incredible science behind this berry. If you put the Latin name of goji—Lycium barbarum—in pubmed.org, you’ll now find 91 studies published on this miracle berry.

But now, with the release of GoChi, we have taken the science to a whole new level with our own clinical research specifically on our product. No other goji product that we know of can make that claim.

Breakthrough Goji Study Released!

Here is what we did. We had a team of scientists take two groups of people. They gave one group 4 ounces of GoChi each day. Then the other group, called the placebo group, was given 4 ounces a day of a juice that looked and tasted just like GoChi, but with one very important difference: It did not contain any of goji’s active ingredients found in GoChi which are called bioactive polysaccharides. Here’s the key: Neither test group knew whether they were drinking the real GoChi or the fake juice. Nor did the scientists know which group was drinking the real GoChi juice or the placebo! In the scientific world, this is called a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, and it is the Gold Standard for high-quality research studies.

For a full two weeks before the start of the study, and during its entire duration, the participants were instructed to refrain from the use of goji products, dietary supplements, energy drinks, or green tea. That way, we could be certain that any positive results would be a direct result of drinking GoChi. In practice, it can be very difficult to ask people to change their habits and preferences just because they are participating in a clinical study, and yet it is essential that they play by the rules in order to ensure a fair and honest result. Also, it is important that everyone who starts the study remains committed to finishing it, because a high dropout rate can skew the results. For these reasons, we selected 35 of our employees at random to participate. This is standard practice for clinical trials, and it enabled us to monitor the study more effectively. The randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled design of the study ensured that the results were absolutely fair and beyond reproach. Also, this study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal later this year—yet another indication of how valid the study is.

The results of the study noted below are currently only approved to be used for marketing purposes in the United States and Puerto Rico. The first thing studied was fatigue because that’s become a chronic and serious problem in modern society. The placebo group found no statistically significant benefit. But the GoChi group showed a statistically significant improvement.

The next thing to be tested was energy levels during the day. As you would expect from the fatigue scores, the placebo group had no statistically significant improvement. But the GoChi group experienced an energy lift throughout the day. And it’s important to note that GoChi contains no caffeine or any other stimulant.
For athletic performance, the placebo group showed no significant difference, yet the GoChi group showed a significant improvement.

The researchers also tested stress levels and calmness. Once again, the placebo group showed no significant difference, yet the GoChi group showed significant improvements, feeling calmer and less stressed. This benefit alone will positively impact the lives of millions of people who are not experiencing a good quality of life due to increased stress.

We also found that there were significant improvements in mental function. The researchers tested for mental acuity and the ability to focus. Again, the placebo group showed no significant improvement, but the GoChi group showed a substantial improvement in those areas.

The researchers had heard reports that people were sleeping better when drinking our goji juice, so they tested for quality of sleep and ease of waking up in the morning. The placebo group had no statistically significant difference in these areas, but the GoChi group had a tremendous difference in both the quality of sleep and the ease with which they wake in the morning. In fact, 80 percent of the GoChi drinkers reported better quality of sleep, and 70 percent reported a refreshed and easier awakening.

When asked how healthy and content they felt, the placebo group noticed no statistically significant difference, but the GoChi group noticed a significant improvement, feeling both healthier and more content. The GoChi group also noticed a much better improvement in feeling happier than did the placebo group.
Finally, in a big surprise to the researchers, the GoChi drinkers noticed a significant improvement in bowel regularity, while the placebo group noticed no difference.

One of the lead researchers from the University of California at Irvine, who is on our Scientific Board, noted that each one of these findings for the GoChi group was statistically significant, which in the scientific community means this study is on very solid ground with a confidence level between 90-99 percent! And he also found that the placebo group had no statistically significant difference in 12 out of the 13 areas tested. So there are two amazing ways to look at this study. One is that the GoChi group was far superior to the placebo group in all 13 areas. A second way to look at it is that the GoChi group had a statistically significant benefit in all 13 areas, while the placebo group had no statistically significant benefit in 12 out of 13 areas. In our sales aids, you will see that we will refer to these magnificent results in both ways.

We have already performed one controlled follow-up study which showed similar results. We are doing further follow-up studies which will be released in the future. This study was just released yesterday and we’re the first ones to announce it. As mentioned, it has recently been submitted for publication to a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and we are expecting it to be released later this year.

I truly believe this product and this study puts us far ahead of the competition. Why? Because we have taken one of the most successful products in the history of Direct Sales and we have made it FAR, FAR more effective! We have taken the magic of the goji berry, the polysaccharides, and we have increased their levels by more than 30 percent over Himalayan Goji Juice.
